Graduate Credit Non-Matriculated Course Information

Policies

Enrollment Eligibility

Anyone with a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is eligible to enroll for non-matriculated, credit-bearing courses offered by RITC. Students who are currently matriculated in an RIT degree program are not eligible to take RIT Certified non-matriculated courses.

Tuition

Upon course registration, students will receive an email from RIT with instructions to set up their RIT computer account. Once the student account has been set up, students must visit  RIT eServices to pay their bill. Course tuition is due immediately upon registration. If payment is not received by the third business day after the course start date, students will be dropped from the course. Students may also receive billing notifications from RIT. Payment is due by the RIT billing statement due date or the third business day after the course start date, whichever occurs first.

Student Verification

For RIT to maintain compliance with important provisions of the Federal Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) and the requirements of Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), faculty who are teaching online courses must ensure that their individual course(s) comply with RIT’s Administrative Policy for Student Identity Verification in Distance Education. Faculty are required to confirm student identity, and work with students to ensure this is completed and documented.

By the end of week 1 of the RIT Certified course session:

  • Students are required to have an RIT-approved ID photo on file that can be used to verify their identity.

  • Students are responsible for participating in the identity verification process specified by the faculty member who is teaching their online course.

  • Students must complete all online course activities utilizing RIT-provided computer accounts, including the online learning platform (with secure login and multi-factor authentication) and RIT-sponsored email accounts. Students must not share or disclose their account password(s) with any individual.

If the student in the online course does not match the provided photo, or the student’s identity cannot be verified by the course withdrawal deadline, the student will be notified by the University and appropriate action will be taken based on University policies. This may result in a disruption to their course enrollment.

Student Health Information

Students born on or after January 1, 1957 who will be on-campus and enrolled in six or more credit hours per semester must abide by the immunization requirements set forth by RIT and the New York State Public Health Laws, with the following requirements:

  • Provide valid proof of immunity against measles, mumps and rubella (in English)

  • Read and sign the meningococcal receipt of information section of the immunization form in the RIT Wellness Portal

  • Provide valid proof of meningococcal tetravalent vaccination (MCV-ACYW) on or after the student’s 16th birthday

New York State Law mandates that students will be dis-enrolled from classes if this information is not submitted within the allotted time.

If students are taking all courses completely online and will not visit campus, they are not subjected to immunization compliance for MMR, meningococcal receipt of information, or meningococcal tetravalent vaccination (MCV-ACYW). If students plan to attend campus for any reason, they are subjected to immunization compliance.

International Students

There are regulations related to international students and health insurance, and RIT has options for that. If you are an international student, you will receive separate communications on this matter.

Refunds

RIT Certified will provide a full refund to students who drop a course within the first three (3) days of the course. Partial refunds will not be provided after the third day.
